Bach Akademie Australia
Bach Akademie Australia is one of Australia's most celebrated period performance ensembles, founded in 2016 by violinist and artistic director Madeleine Easton. Dedicated to historically informed performance of Bach and Baroque repertoire, the ensemble performs on period instruments and has rapidly become a mainstay of Australia's classical music scene. Described by Sir John Eliot Gardiner as combining "cutting edge scholarship, imaginative musicianship and playing of dazzling virtuosity," the Bach Akademie brings the beauty and rigour of Baroque music to audiences across Australia.


David Rowden, clarinet
David Rowden is an internationally acclaimed clarinettist based in Sydney, renowned for his expressive artistry and technical brilliance. He founded the Omega Ensemble in 2005 — one of Australia's leading chamber music organisations — and has served as its Artistic Director since its inception. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, his career has taken him to audiences across the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, and beyond, with critics praising his performances as demonstrating "superb technique and artistry." David Rowden In 2016 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, an honour awarded to former students who have made a significant contribution to the music profession. 
 

Emma Jardine, violin
Emma Jardine is a violinist of international standing and the founder and artistic director of the Blue Mountains Chamber Music Festival. She is a founding member of the Streeton Trio, described by Musica Viva as Australia's most internationally successful piano trio, and has performed as guest principal with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and West Australian Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. A graduate of the Australian National Academy of Music, Emma is also the artistic director of the Oberon Chamber Music Festival and a passionate advocate for chamber music in regional communities.

Laura King, soprano

Australian soprano Laura King is one of Australia's most captivating sopranos, specialising in song recital with a deep passion for Lieder, Mélodie, and Art and Folk song. Laura has performed extensively across Europe and Australia at festivals including Castlemaine State Festival, Port Fairy Music Festival, and Sydney Fringe Festival. Her operatic credits include principal artist with Short Black Opera and Pacific Opera, and she has been a member of The 7 Sopranos and a soloist with Hour Glass Ensemble. Laura began piano studies at age four and was ignited by a love of opera when employed as a child singer with Opera Australia at age nine. In 2016 she won the Mietta Song Competition, which took her to Italy to study with Maestro Sherman Lowe, and her qualifications include a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNSW and a Licentiate of Music Diploma in Voice with Distinction. 


Madeleine Easton, violin

The Australian violinist Madeleine Easton is internationally recognised for her versatility and expertise, combining period and modern playing in a career that has taken her to some of the world's most respected ensembles and orchestras. Described by her mentor Sir John Eliot Gardiner as having "fire in her belly and a spirit of enterprise," she spent nearly two decades based in London before returning to Australia to found the Bach Akademie Australia. Her career has included engagements with the English Baroque Soloists, the Gulbenkian Orchestra of Lisbon, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra Revolutionnaire et Romantique, and she held the position of concertmaster of The Hanover Band from 2006 to 2016. She has also performed at the coronation of King Charles III.

 

Rachel Siu, cello

Described as "fearless" by Yo-Yo Ma, Australian-born Rachel Siu is a multi-award winning cellist whose career has taken her to Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Elbphilharmonie, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Musikverein. She completed her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees as a Kovner Fellow at The Juilliard School under Joel Krosnick, winning the William Schuman Commencement Prize for outstanding leadership and achievement. Her honours include the Gold Medal at the VIII David Popper International Cello Competition, first prize at the Getting to Carnegie International Competition, and the Australian Music Foundation Nora Goodridge Young Artist Award. She has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Guangzhou Symphony and The Juilliard Orchestra under conductors such as Thomas Adès and Long Yu, and has been coached by Emanuel Ax, Pamela Frank, and Yo-Yo Ma. An avid chamber musician, Rachel is a member of the Streeton Trio and holds a teaching position at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Streeton Trio
Described by Musica Viva as "Australia's most internationally successful piano trio," the Streeton Trio was formed in 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, named after the Australian Impressionist painter Sir Arthur Streeton, and brings together violinist Emma Jardine, cellist Rachel Siu, and pianist Bernadette Harvey. Winner of the 2011 Musica Viva Chamber Music Competition, the trio was selected for the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy in 2010, where it was in residence for three years, and has received scholarships from the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Victoria, and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. The ensemble has performed at Wigmore Hall in London, Het Loo Royal Palace in Holland, and the Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, and has toured extensively across the United Kingdom, China, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, and beyond. With four well-received recordings featured regularly on ABC FM and Classic FM, the trio has established itself as one of Australia's leading chamber ensembles and a regular presence at major festivals nationwide. Now based in Sydney, the Streeton Trio continues to bring exceptional chamber music to Australian audiences with the same international standard that has earned it acclaim around the world.
